Soulbound

The album Soulbound tells a moving and captivating story about human connection in a world where the virtual and real intertwine. It follows two characters, Lumi, a young illustrator passionate about manga and isolated in her artistic world, and Shadow, an aspiring professional gamer who spends his nights training online while struggling with deep loneliness.

Their Meeting:

Lumi and Shadow discover a groundbreaking game called Soulbound, which blends competition and socialization. The game requires forming teams, and through a mysterious algorithm, they are paired as partners.

Through their matches, in-game chats, and exchanges about their passions (like Lumi’s drawings), their bond grows stronger. What starts as a simple collaboration in a game evolves into a deep emotional connection.

Moving to the Real World:

Shadow gathers the courage to ask Lumi to meet in person. Although nervous, Lumi agrees, sensing that this could be a unique opportunity.

Their first meeting, told from two distinct perspectives (tracks 5 and 6), reveals their nervousness but also their natural chemistry. The day ends with a shy yet heartfelt kiss, marking the beginning of their real-life relationship.

Their Future:

Years later, Lumi and Shadow are married with two children. Lumi has become a recognized artist, exhibiting her work in galleries, while Shadow is coaching an international gaming team. Despite their success, they never forget the game Soulbound, which brought them together. When they have the chance, they reconnect in this virtual world to reminisce about where it all began.

The Creator of Soulbound:

The bonus track “The Secret Gift” tells the story of the game’s creator. This elderly developer, burdened by the regret of neglecting his wife while dedicating his life to virtual worlds, designed Soulbound as an attempt to bridge the virtual and real. His algorithm was crafted to connect emotionally compatible souls, in the hope that at least one real-world meeting would result. He delivers a poignant message: real life is always worth more than the virtual.
